Public Notice – Category 2 Backyard Burning Permitted at 12:00pm October 2nd 2025

Effective 12:00 p.m. on October 2, 2025, Category 2 backyard burning will be permitted within the Otter Point Fire Protection District, provided you have a valid permit issued by the Otter Point Fire Department.

⚠️ A permit is required before burning.

Please stop by the Firehall Mon-Fri 8:30-5:00 pm or call 250-642-6211 to obtain one.

Residents are reminded to:

  • Follow all permit conditions carefully

  • Pile size is a maximum of 3m wide by 2m high

  • Never leave a fire unattended

  • Have adequate tools to manage and extinguish fire

  • Working garden hose on hand to fully extinguish the fire

  • Ensure your fire is cold to the touch before leaving it
